Renewed Turnover Growth Underlines the FRITZ & MACZIOL Group’s Success Story

  • Two-digit growth rates
  • Currently 500 employees and 17 locations
  • Investments secure growth

Ulm, 11th February 2008 — The FRITZ & MACZIOL Group ended a shortened business year successfully on 31/12/2007. The previous financial year (in each case from 01/04 – 31/03 of the following year) was adjusted to the calendar year. With a turnover of 170 million euros in 2007, the Ulm company achieved a two-digit growth rate (22 %). 126 new employees increased the staff base to the current 500. Approximately 2,350 customers are now catered for by 17 branch offices. A substantial proportion of the extremely positive development was also due to the international companies and investments in staff, activities and expansion. As a result, the leading company for software, systems and services FRITZ & MACZIOL and its sister company INFOMA®, leading provider of local government software solutions, have created perfect conditions to continue the growth strategy of the last two decades, which is exemplary in the industry. The FRITZ & MACZIOL Group has been part of the Dutch Technology Group Imtech N.V. since 2006.

The essential factors for the continued corporate success lie in the unusually high customer orientation due to an “everything from one source” offer for hardware, software and services and in the high willingness to make investments. Thus, the constant expansion of the branch network, which offers the customer bundled know-how in regional proximity, takes top priority alongside constant investments in innovative products, consulting and services and in a highly qualified staff team. With this quality offensive and successful takeovers last year in Germany and Switzerland, the company group has established itself as a top partner in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (D-A-CH region) for the manufacturers IBM, Microsoft, VMware and Citrix.

The development in detail:

FRITZ & MACZIOL Software- und Computervertrieb GmbH
FRITZ & MACZIOL celebrated its twenty-year anniversary in November 2007. Founded in 1987 by Heribert Fritz and Eberhard Macziol, as an IBM partner providing hardware solutions, today the company is a leading systems company for hardware, software and services. Since 1987, the company has achieved an average annual growth of 31 percent in turnover and 21 percent in staff, an unparalled feat the IT industry. The company today is the largest and fastest growing IBM software partner in the medium-sized business sector in Germany and is one of the Top 3 IBM partners in the D-A-CH region.

General Manager Heribert Fritz explains: “For us, it is and always has been important to be a long-term partner to our customers; a partner who ensures the sustainability of their decisions. Because we have demonstrated from the outset that we are always ready for innovation, we have successfully proven this over the last twenty years.”

With an increase of around 50 % compared to the previous year, the IBM software field has once again proven to be the biggest success factor. Customers have focussed on solutions for business process optimisation (SOA) and archiving that conforms to legislation.

There have also been increases in applications developed by the company. For example, Remondis, one of the largest private service companies in the water and recycling management sector worldwide, chose the eANV-Portal from FRITZ & MACZIOL. With a volume of probably more than 600,000 despatch notes annually, FRITZ & MACZIOL takes market leadership among providers of electronic waste management processes.

The Services sector also showed strong growth, for example in SAP Technology Consulting, Remote Services and IBM Services. The increase in staff on the team has had a positive effect on turnover development overall. FRITZ & MACZIOL has just been honoured as the best IBM Global Services Business Partner in Germany.

The Microsoft business division has also developed succdessfully. FRITZ & MACZIOL’s range includes solutions for the strategically important themes of infrastructure optimisation (IO) and software asset management (SAM), including licence consulting. The Microsoft Gold Certified Partner received Manufacturer Expertise in Licensing Solutions with SAM specialisation for the proven qualification. Further expansion, both personell and portfolio, ar planned for this year.

In 2007, FRITZ & MACZIOL also received the highest manufacturer awards for extensive expertise and know-how in all innovative IT themes, including best virtualisation and archiving solutions.

For Managing Directors Heribert Fritz and Oliver Schallhorn the company’s unique success story is the result of several factors: “We believe our basic premise is a substantial factor; always fulfilling our customers’ requirements precisely with new, future-oriented technologies, individually and with extensive expertise. Our strategy is practiced in all our branches and service offices worldwide, so our customers can call on all services “around the clock”. We guarantee absolute experts in your sectors thanks to our highly qualified staff, most of whom have been with us for many years. We have been able to create a leading position in the market for ourselves with this model, so we can continue the growth trend of the last two decades in the future too.”

INFOMA® Software Consulting GmbH
With more than 150 new customers across Germany by 1/1/2008, INFOMA® has once again demonstrated the leading market position of its integrated complete solution newsystem® communal for classic double-enty bookkeeping and the new financial accounting system. 193 local authorities, including towns, parishes, districts and joint communities are currently using newsystem® communal for their double-entry accounting system. INFOMA®’s smallest double-entry customer has 1,800 inhabitants, whilst the largest has 200,000. In total, more than 750 authorities – that is approx. 500,000 users – are now working with INFOMA® every day.

This success is the result of a corporate and product strategy that has been future and, above all, user-oriented from the start. In addition to high investments in continual process development, targeted expansion of the highly qualified team to increase customer support has been a high priority. For example, INFOMA® strengthened the consulting sector with new staff last year. This is how the company backs up its claim to be a comprehensive partner for local authorities.

It is an essential component of INFOMA®’s strategic orientation to position itself with high expertise and excellent knowledge of advanced themes early on and, thereby, to develop new solutions and implement them hand in hand with the local authorities. Naturally, the company also takes into account that financial accounting is increasingly taking the central role in local government IT and is becoming the hub of information and processes as part of local government modernisation.

As a result, INFOMA® offers the prerequisites for simple management of documents and data regardless of origin by integrating their document management solution to newsystem® communal. Thus, the company allows for customers’ increasing requests to realise management of incoming and outgoing documents under workflow aspects.

At the same time, INFOMA® is supplementing the portfolio of the newsystem® communal product family with an effective and consistent analysis and control system. Much more than just a general reporting method, the system supports policy and administration in operational governing and in the political decision-making process.

In accordance with the approach of positioning itself as an integral partner of local authorities in all essential themes, INFOMA® is providing a well-founded consulting spectrum in the new sector “consult communal”. Public authorities and operations, which are in the first planning phase of introducing the new accounting system for example, can get support for this complex process here through individual, benefit-oriented consulting methods.

For Managing Directors Eberhard Macziol and Oliver Couvigny, almost two decades of positive development by INFOMA® are the result of this integral, future-oriented approach to customers’ needs. “We are a partner of local authorities and always try to think like them and to develop new solutions with them. We do not just want to sell a product, but rather to provide a perfect solution. On the one hand, this means always seeing our process in the context of current developments and reacting accordingly. On the other, expert advice and project management are at the forefront for us. Additionally, we were and are always ready to make high investments. We will also continue on this path in 2008 and invest in the quality of our product and in the qualification and expertise of our staff.”

With the “Certified for Microsoft Dynamics NAV” status, INFOMA® receives confirmation that newsystem® communal meets the highest standards for Microsoft Partner software solutions – the process has now also been tested successfully on Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 – and reinforces its position once more as a Microsoft Top-Partner worldwide.

Outlook FRITZ & MACZIOL GROUP
Thanks to further investments in innovative technologies, services, consulting and the know-how of a motivated and qualified team, and the expansion of the market presence, the FRITZ & MACZIOL Group is also planning further growth of more than 20 % in 2008. There will also be thematic acquisitions in D-A-CH region this year.
