In the course of their international activities, FRITZ & MACZIOL´s IAS Industrial Applications and Services has fixed its sights on the American market. Many cement works are increasingly investing in automation. With the first commissioning of the VAS® Template Solution at the world’s largest producer of calcium carbonate, FRITZ & MACZIOL has made a very impressive start in the USA. Based on professional and focused cooperation, the Californian-German project team implemented the full automation of 10 silos, 4 shipping terminals and 5 weighbridges in an extremely short space of time. Key points of the Lucerne Valley project were, despite the time difference, beginning operations on schedule for the first time with Spanish-Mexican self-service user interfaces for cement despatch. Installation at the customer´s other American plants are already being planned. Having local availability in this growth market is the background for setting up an F&M IAS service and support office in Atlanta/Georgia. Here, FRITZ & MACZIOL is cooperating with Nicklas & Partner Inc, a proven partner in the area of automation. With around 35 staff members, the company offers the US cement industry solutions for process and control technology. N+P have just recently carried out a system upgrade from S5 to S7 for Lafarge Cement in Georgia. Other projects were undertaken for Lehigh Cement (Union Bridge) and Holcim. In Union Bridge, N+P installed the 6th LSPS (Loading Spout Positioning System).
