In the course of their international activities, FRITZ & MACZIOL´s IAS Industrial Applications and Services has fixed its sights on the American market. Many cement works are increasingly investing in automation. With the first commissioning of the VAS® Template Solution at the world’s largest producer of calcium carbonate, FRITZ & MACZIOL has made a very impressive start in the USA.
Based on professional and focused cooperation, the Californian-German project team implemented the full automation of 10 silos, 4 shipping terminals and 5 weighbridges in an extremely short space of time. Key points of the Lucerne Valley project were, despite the time difference, beginning operations on schedule for the first time with Spanish-Mexican self-service user interfaces for cement despatch. Installation at the customer´s other American plants are already being planned.
Having local availability in this growth market is the background for setting up an F&M IAS service and support office in Atlanta/Georgia. Here, FRITZ & MACZIOL is cooperating with Nicklas & Partner Inc, a proven partner in the area of automation. With around 35 staff members, the company offers the US cement industry solutions for process and control technology. N+P have just recently carried out a system upgrade from S5 to S7 for Lafarge Cement in Georgia. Other projects were undertaken for Lehigh Cement (Union Bridge) and Holcim. In Union Bridge, N+P installed the 6th LSPS (Loading Spout Positioning System). This system has not only been installed in shipping terminals for trucks and trains for the day silos but also in the 32 other silos.
